About | Troy Allen Pelish, 19, of Vinton, died on February 12, 2012. A valedictorian of William Byrd High School's class of 2011, Troy earned national recognition for his performance on the National German and Latin exams, he competed on the school's championship -winning Academic Team, and he was honored to study at the Governor's German Academy in the summer of 2010. Troy's love of the outdoors, especially hiking in the rain, led to his success as a member of the Order of the Arrow and an Eagle Scout. He entered the College of William and Mary as a freshman in the fall of 2011, majoring in Chemistry with a minor in German. Troy was greatly loved, and was a good leader, friend, brother, and son, whose absence leaves a large void in the hearts of many. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Bruce and Martha Pelish, and his two brothers, Kendall and Clint Pelish, all of Vinton; his grandfathers, John Pelish, of Stephens City, and Charles Baughan, of Vinton; his aunts and uncles, Tammie Pelish and husband, Wesley Beamer, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Pete Pelish, of North Huntington, Pa., Paul Pelish, of Boyce, Linda Bosserman and husband, Gary Bosserman, and Steve Baughan and wife, Marcia Baughan, of Silver Spring, Md.; his cousins, Elizabeth Pelish, Teal Pelish, Stephen Baughan, Katie Baughan, Allison Baughan, Lauren Baughan, and Brian Bosserman; and his fabulous friend and roommate, Tyler Callahan. He was predeceased by his grandmothers, Mary Pelish and Genevieve Baughan. The family of Troy Pelish would like to thank their friends and family, as well as their church family, for their amazing support of love, tears, and prayers during this very difficult time. A special note of love and thanks to Troy's aunt, Linda Bosserman, for her selfless love and support. You are wonderful. Finally, we would like to thank God for His grace: He has sustained us and will continue to do so in the tough days ahead. The family wishes that everyone who reads this obituary would greatly cherish those whom they love; you never know when their last day on earth will be. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, with Pastor Andy Rice officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221. www.oakeys.com. |
