About	John “Tommy” Thomas Overstreet, 61 of Vinton, passed away on Friday November 29, 2019. Tommy was celebrating Thanksgiving with family in Suffolk, VA, and passed unexpectedly. Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 32 years, Betty Jo; son, Luke; daughter Jodi and her husband Bobby. Tommy had a kind gentle heart towards pets, and he will affectionately remembered by his grand dogs, Bear and Benny. Tommy was a retired Roanoke City firefighter. He also was a plumber by trade and operated his own business for for than 20 years. Tommy loved walking the Town of Vinton with Betty Jo and Bear, watching sports with his family and friends, and cooking delicious wings and ribs. Anyone that was fortunate enough to spend even one afternoon with Tommy would know that he loved to have fun. Tommy was especially proud of his son, Luke, who is teaching in Japan and his daughter, Jodi, who is successfully employed in Roanoke. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 4 pm at Vinton Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Monroe officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4PM and 6-8PM on Monday, December 2, 2019 at Oakeys Funeral Service in Vinton, VA.
