About	David D. “Little Artie” Ryan, 62, of Vinton went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. He was born in Roanoke on April 17, 1959 to Artie Ryan and Fay Juanita Fluke Ryan. David was preceded in death by his parents. David graduated from William Byrd High School in 1977. He went on to become a welder and work in the steel construction industry. David worked for a time with his father in the family business where he was affectionately known as “Little Artie”. During his youth, he loved racing stock cars at the track in Rocky Mount. Dave enjoyed classic cars and watching NASCAR. He was known for his great sense of humor and his photographic memory. Dave had a soft spot for cats which includes his beloved kitty cat, Alexandra. David leaves behind his wife, Crystal Young Ryan; his sisters, Bonnie Norton (David) and Shirley Stull; his mother and father-in- law, Martha and Bernie Young; his sister-in-law, Dawn Carter (Steve); his nieces, Jennifer Wolfenbarger (husband, Andy and their three children) and Shannon Ballard (Zach); his nephews, Steven Norton (wife, Kim and their child) and Josh Carter (wife, Bekkah and their two children); his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends; and his cat, Alexandra. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the ICU 7th floor at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their kindness and care. A Memorial Service (Celebration of Life) will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the Oakey’s Vinton Chapel with Pastor Allen Woodie officiating. Burial will be private at a later date at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to: Diabetes Foundation, Inc., The National Kidney Foundation or an Animal Rescue of your choice in David’s memory.
