About	Paul Steven Hypes of Goodview left this life on Sunday, July 18 2021 and began his new life free of pain in the presence of the Lord. He was diagnosed with acute megakaryoblastic leukemia in June and passed away at home. He was 61 years old. Steve was born in Roanoke, Virginia in October 1959 to Lula Garnet Guilliams Hypes and Paul Cleveland Hypes. He grew up in Vinton and graduated from William Byrd High School in 1978. He is predeceased by his father and nephew Zeth, and is survived by his wife Liz, his mother Garnet; son Steven; daughter, Rebecca; step-daughter, Rosy Farnan and brother, Mark. He was also blessed with grandchildren. He made friends easily and made a point of keeping in touch. He began working in the communications business at age 20 and retired from Verizon this year. He could fix anything and enjoyed fishing and wood-working. He served for six years on the Bedford County volunteer rescue squad in Stewartsville, three of those years as captain. Visitation service will be at Oakey’s in Vinton on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 6PM until 8PM. A memorial service will be at Oakey’s in Vinton on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 6PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate blood in memory of Steve.
