About Carolyn H. McCarty, 80, of Moneta, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 22, 2021.

Surviving is her son, Chris McCarty (Sabrina); her grandchildren, Zach McCarty and Katlyn Wallace (Brady); great-grandson, Jackson Wallace; sisters, Alice Lackey and Becky Conner; her brother, Warren Huddleston Jr. (Sue); numerous nieces and nephews; and special furry friend, Ryker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren B. and Pearl Huddleston; her husband of 46 years, Charles McCarty; and sister, Janice Humphries.

She was born in Roanoke, Virginia on July 2, 1941. She graduated from William Byrd High School and received her degree in Elementary Education from Longwood College. She was employed with Roanoke County Schools for 34 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority for Teachers and the National Education Association. She attended Vinton Baptist Church.

She loved to play cards with her friends in Vinton and Smith Mountain Lake. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. She spent time with her sisters and brother and her neighbor, Pat Peters, at her Vinton apartment. Some of her best times were spent at her home that she built with her husband, Charles, on Smith Mountain Lake with family and friends.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Surgical ICU Unit at Lewis Gale Medical Center for her care during her illness.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Vinton Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Monroe officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. service time on Thursday at the church. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Vinton Breakfast Lions Club or to the Vinton Baptist Church Food Pantry. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.oakeys.com.
