About Kay Ann Kramer of Fredericksburg, Virginia went to her Heavenly Reward on July 22, 2020, passing away at Bowling Green Health and Rehabilitation Center. Kay was born on June 25, 1942 in Roanoke, Virginia, the daughter of the late James Joseph Kramer and the late Alice Pauline Woody Kramer.
She attended William Byrd High School in Vinton, Virginia as a member of the class of 1960. She graduated from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee in 1965. After college, she went to work with the Washington, D.C. police force. She was the second woman to graduate from the F.B.I. Academy, and became an agent, working mostly in the Cleveland, Ohio area. She went on to work with several government agencies, owned a polygraph business, and spent the last of her career with the National Security Agency.
Kay accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and grew up attending Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke. She enjoyed landscaping, shopping, and eating out with friends, but the love of her life was working with and giving homes to various pet animals, especially dogs. As the owner of Critter Care Pet Sitting, Kay was well known at the local animal shelter where they knew they could call on her for help with any animal.
She was an active member of the Unity Church of Fredericksburg and leaves behind many loving church friends. They have been such a blessing to her through the years.
Kay is survived by her sister, Ellen Schramm of Marion, Indiana, three nieces, six great nieces and nephews, and many loving cousins. She was preceded in death by both parents.
A special thanks to cousins Dr. Richard A. Creasy, Susan Adkins, and Roy V. Creasy, and special friend Christina Ferber for their loving service and help with Kay.
A memorial service for family will be held on a later date in Roanoke. A Blessing of the Animals in Kay’s honor to celebrate her life and love of animals will be held on August 16th from 5:00-6:00pm at Coleman’s farm on 29 Carriage Hill Lane, Fredericksburg, VA 22407
Memorial contributions may be made to Unity of Fredericksburg, 3451 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22408, and Rikki’s Refuge Animal Sanctuary, PO Box 1357, Orange, VA 22960.
