About	Sharon Elaine Richardson Proehl, 77, of Moneta, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, James ‘Bussy” Richardson and Louise Richardson Whorley. Sharon is survived by her husband of 55 years, Glen A. Proehl; children, Amy Proehl Reamey (Kevin) and Matt Proehl (Dana); grandchildren, Kelsey Proehl Carr (Cam), Hannah Proehl (Patrick Esarey), Seth Greene, and Kalie Greene; brother-in-law, Gene Proehl (Sue); and cousins, Susan and Annette. She was born on March 6, 1945 and graduated from William Byrd High School. Sharon continued on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Roanoke College and a master’s degree from The University of Virginia (UVA). She was a teacher for Bedford County Public Schools for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution (DAR) The Peaks of Otter Chapter where she served as Registrar, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and Alpha Phi Sorority, and a member of Morgan’s Baptist Church. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moneta Rescue Squad.
