About | Kevin Dwayne Carter, 56, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 after 10 years of suffering from several chronic illnesses. Kevin was born in Roanoke, Virginia in 1966, but lived most of his younger years in Vinton, VA. Kevin was a 1984 graduate of William Byrd High School, a 1989 graduate of Averett University, and a 1993 graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Kevin spent many years serving as an associate pastor in churches in Frankfort, KY, Chesterfield, VA, Winchester, VA, and Fredericksburg, VA. Kevin loved spending time with his family going on vacation, enjoying family dinners, as well as watching his sons play sports, perform in musicals, or play musical instruments. Before becoming ill, Kevin enjoyed playing golf, going to amusement parks, and snow skiing. He was very proud of his family and supported them in their endeavors. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kimberly Dean Carter; sons Kaleb and Kollin Carter; mother Gloria Payne Carter; father-in-law Doug Pence; and father- and mother-in-law Steve and Gayle Dean. Kevin is also survived by his aunts, Kathy Webber (Mark Hilton) and Rita Mason; uncle Rick Payne (Bonnie); cousin Heather Hartberger (Brian); brothers-in-law Steve Dean (Michelle) and Todd Fox (Catherine); sister-in-law Kathy Kelley (Gary); and nieces and nephews Kasi Abell, Tyler Oliver, Stephen Dean (Candace), Jacob Dean, Alexis Dean, Tyler Dean, T.S. Fox (Haley), and Caitlin Fox. Kevin was predeceased by his father, Taylor W. Carter; grandparents James and Mary Payne; and grandparents Frank and Edna Mae Carter. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Vinton Baptist Church in Vinton, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. |
