Douglas William Heptinstall, 78, of Roanoke, Va., also known as “The Bone,” went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 18, 2023.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Betty; his two sons, Bobby and Richard; and four grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Parker, Brooke, Ty, and Kaela. He will be missed by many and loved by all.
He served in The United States Marine Corps for six years and was Post Commander of American Legion Post #3 for a number of years.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 12 noon on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Oakey’s South Chapel with Pastor Melissa Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the funeral home. At his request, please dress casually.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Legion Post #3 Baseball.
