About	Betty Powers “BJ” Brewer of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert G. and Ruby D. Powers. She is survived by her husband, Barry, and many members of the family and friends. BJ spent her life working in education for more than 40 years, beginning as a teacher and retiring as a superintendent in 2014. She often said her life had truly been blessed as she had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people over the course of her career. She loved what she did and often shared that she was grateful for the numerous opportunities and experiences she had. She was a lifelong member of Vinton Baptist Church. A private memorial service will be held at a future date per her wishes. Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to Vinton Baptist Church or to Angels of Assisi.
