He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Narvell Poindexter; father and mother-in-law, Luther and Alma Richie; and his adopted brother, James (J.C.) Poindexter. Cornell leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Cheryl Poindexter; son, Michael (Bethany) Poindexter; grandchildren, Jasmine, Isaiah, Beverly Jo, and Marley Poindexter; great-grandson, Jaiden Poindexter; stepmother, Delois Poindexter; special cousin, Cecil Hardy, Jr.; special niece/daughter, Tasha Richie, and her children, Alijah, Harmony, and Aaliyah Richie; sisters, Paulette (Kenneth) Roberts and Linda Moyer; brothers, Ricky (Sharlett) Poindexter, Tony (Shelby) Poindexter, and Gerald Pratt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald (Lillian) Casey, Merle (Marva) Casey, Andrea (William) Buffalo, and Cornelia Poindexter; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. A public viewing will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home & Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
