About | Bonnie Sue Crotts Hartsell, 80 of Vinton, VA, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 13, 2024. She was a loving wife, mother, and “Nina” and loved her family with all her heart. She was a great friend and served as Midland Baptist Church Treasurer for six years. Sunday family dinners were especially important to her and her house was always open to family and friends. She was a great cook, homemaker, and insurance agent to the Roanoke Valley for many years. She is preceded in death by husband, Paul Edward “PE” Hartsel; her son, David Russell Short; her step-son Mark Edward Hartsel; her son –in –law Ty A. Hodges; her sister, Doris Crotts Conner; and her brothers Richard Crotts, Bud Cotts, and Harold Crotts. She is survived by children Catherine “Cathy” Short Watson and husband, Wayne, Linda Short Hodges, and daughter-in-law Sherry Short Griffith; step-daughters Karen Hartsel Williams and husband, Jeffrey, and Kimberly Hartsel Poff and husband, Kenneth; Six grandchildren Shayne Rodney Short and wife, Morgan, Whitney Sue Short, Sarah Frances Short and fiancé, Jeremy, Victoria “Tori” Watson Nichols and husband, Chris, Renee and Seth Hodges; 4 step-grandchildren Jordan Lyrae Williams and wife, Ashley Nicole Trohaugh, Haley Williams Furrow and husband, Dylan, Jeffrey Dean Williams, Jr, and Logan Kenneth Poff; One great grandchild Jonah Paul Short; two sisters Louise Crotts Gilbert and Clara “Pert” Crotts Oliver; one brother-in-law Edsel Conner; special loving lifelong friend Daniel L. Hudson “Huddy Do” and wife, Frances; devoted and faithful caregiver Eva Mason; and an endless number of family members and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel with pastor Rodger Hogan officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Midland Baptist Church 460 Dale Ave, Vinton, VA. 24179 or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation at 6520 N. Andrews Ave Fort Lauderdale FL 33309. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am -10:00 am on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel 540-982-2221.Dear Classmates, I apologize for getting this out so late, as I've had Bill's family visiting since last Wednesday, and I had not found out about Bonnie's passing until tonight. She was a good friend of mine ever since elementary school, and a friend to many. Prayers and love sent to her family and friends. May she rest, knowing she is now with Paul, her parents, her son, and other family members. She was such a sweet girl, and I always enjoyed her company. |
