About Staley Victor Pennington (Penny), 84, of Vinton, Virginia passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia on March 28, 1940.
Penny is survived by his wife of 63 years Carolyn Link Pennington, His sons Victor (Barb), Ryan (Kimber). His grandchildren Claire, Dylan (Dorla), Emilie and Lauren, along with his great-granddaughter Della. His sister and brother-in-law Judy Pennington Kelley (Hootie). His sister-in-law Kathi Pennington. Many nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents Staley Victor Pennington Sr. and Dorothy Dewitt Pennington along with his brother Wayne Pennington.
Penny married his high school sweetheart, and they were virtually inseparable. He was a Dental Technician and ran his own dental lab, Pennington Crown and Bridge until his retirement in 2003. Penny was active in the Vinton Host Lions Club where he served as past president. He was a long-time member of Vinton Baptist Church where he served on many committees, including being a deacon. Penny loved to spend the summers at Holden Beach with his family. He and his wife Carolyn also enjoyed their camping trips at Craig Creek. He was a loving husband, a proud father and an awesome "Pa".
A visitation will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel on Sunday December 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Monday December 30th at Oakey's Vinton chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Chris Monroe officiating. Burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery Vinton.
