Deborah Lynne Baker, 45, of Salem, Va., passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010. She attended Ridgewood Baptist Church and was a 1982 graduate of William Byrd High School. She also served in the United States Air Force from 1985 through 1988. Deborah was a dedicated and loyal employee of Carilion Hospitals and later Salem Family Medicine. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hal D. (Tom) and Dorothy H. (Dottie) Baker; and two nephews, Matthew and Brian. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Leigh Baker, of Franklin County; nephew, Samuel Baker; niece, Abigail Baker; aunts, Colleen (Virgil) Sarver, Lucille Hitt, Mary Faulkner, and Bethel Ratliff; uncles, James Baker, Clarence (Carolyn) Baker, Paul (Garnet) Hypes, Bill Glass, and Alvin Hypes; many special cousins, friends and neighbors including Cora Bandy, Barbara Arnold, Sandy Gallimore, Bonnie Witt and Kathy Rogers. The family would like to express appreciation to Raleigh Court Health Care for their devoted care and support. Services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev. Roy Kanode will officiate. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Oakey's North Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2010.
