About	Bobby Gene Thomason, Jr., 56, of Vinton, died on Friday, February 14, 2014. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry Wesley and Nora "Annie" Thomason and Luther Edward and Ethel Kingery. Surviving are his sons, Wesley David and Cary Edward Thomason who were his pride and joy; his faithful pet dog "CHIP"; his parents, Bobby and Martha Thomason; sister, Lisa Thomason Barrett (Wayne); niece, nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a member of Vinton Baptist Church and a graduate of William Byrd High School. He was employed by City Electric before becoming disabled from complications of Diabetes. A "special" thanks to our many friends who helped him and our family in so many ways. Bobby was an Avid NASCAR Fan and was a "walking NASCAR encyclopedia"! He personally met many NASCAR Drivers. His sons became interested in racing also and drove at local tracks where he helped them in the pits and later watched them race from his scooter or wheelchair. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Dr. Bill Booth officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
