Michael W. Belcher, 51, of Vinton, died suddenly Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Vinton Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul B. and Bessie Bowles Belcher; a daughter, Michelle Dawn; brother-in-law, Don Barbour; and father-in-law, Joseph C. Workman. He is survived by his wife, Rita; son, Jeff (Melody); daughter, Jessica (Ben); grandchildren, Trevor, Mickayla and Gabriel, all of Vinton; brothers, Paul (Gisela) of Englewood, Fla., Irvin (Mag), Richard (Rose); sisters, Barbara (Terry) Karnes, Marietta Meador, Juanita Barbour, Evelyn (Gordon) Welsh, Betty (Dean) Noble, mother-in-law, Ruby Workman; sisters-in-law, Connie Dickerson, Terrie (Ernie) Flinchum, all of the Roanoke area. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends; and a special friend, Jean Johnston. Interment with military honors will be in the Mountain View Cemetery.
