About Never one to take the easy and most expedient path, David Harrell Meador, 62, of Moneta, who passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012, kept a tenacious grip on life, defying predictions and expectations. He approached his illness with a mixture of acceptance, defiance, and scientific curiosity. Teamed with friend and doctor, John Araujo at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, David contributed unique cell lines for research that will lead to treatments and even cures for others. Knowing this gave his illness meaning. David was born February 15, 1950, the son of Everett Eustace and Vivian Kidd Meador, who are deceased. He was also predeceased by a sister, Laura Meador. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sharon Law Meador; two sisters, Ellen Meador Ashwell and husband, Robert Ashwell, of Huddleston, and Alice Meador and husband, Kevin Zangara, of Rodarte, N.M.; as well as nieces and nephews, Erin Ashwell, husband, Michael Finney and baby John, Rob Ashwell, Taylor and Tessa Zangara, and Ashley, Jack, Emily, Graham, Harmony, Austen, Brennan, and Emerson Law. David had many loving cousins and friends, including Neil Huddleston, and Billy and Carol Butterworth, who stood steadfastly beside him and Sharon. He leaves behind a passel of well pampered cats, each of which he appreciated and loved for its unique personality. David graduated from the University of Virginia and worked with Sharon in their business as a creative director and writer. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at 1112 Second Street in Old Southwest where David and Sharon worked painstakingly on endless restoration projects. A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Please consider donations to MD Anderson Cancer Center and Angels of Assisi.
