About	Vickie Louise Thomas Bowen, 67, of Vinton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13, 2016. She was born in Roanoke, daughter of Ruth Gray Thomas and the late Jack L. Thomas. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her brother Robert L. Thomas. Vickie was a 1967 graduate of William Byrd High School and attended Sullins College. She was a former employee of Gill Memorial Hospital; and later served as the Vice President of her family’s company; Hawkins & Cox Inc. In addition to her mother, her survivors include: her husband, Kenneth D. Bowen, Sr. who said; “She was a sweet loving wife who always thought of me first, Her daughter, Mary Beth Goode (Jeff); her son, Byron Penick, three stepsons, Kenneth D. Bowen, Jr. (Cheryl), Christopher Bowen (Larissa), Michael Bowen (Kara); two grandchildren, Beckett Goode, Leilani Goode; six step grandchildren, Brandon Bowen, Brittany Bowen, Nicholas Bowen, Brynn Bowen, Kayla Bowen and Brayden Bowen. Funeral service will be held at the graveside, 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Dr. Joe Greene will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, from 6-8 PM at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.
