About	Bruce Wayne “Batman” Watkins, 69, of Roanoke passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016. He succumbed to his fearless and valiant battle with esophageal cancer at home with his family by his side. Bruce graduated from William Byrd High School in 1965 and served in the United States Army for three years as a machinist. He earned the rank of Specialist 5th Class while in Ulm, Germany. Bruce was also a loyal and dedicated employee for United Parcel Service for 27 years. Survivors are his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Basham Watkins, son, Daryl Watkins and wife, Stacy and their children, Logan and Brooke of Glen Allen, VA; daughter, Melody Howlett and husband, Kevin and their children, Molly, Max, Macy and Kaeleigh of Roanoke; Neil Holthouser, father of Molly, Max and Macy of Roanoke; sisters, Charlotte Brown and Diane Watkins, both of Roanoke. A celebration of Batman’s life will be at 10am, Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel with Pastor Alan F. Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 8pm, Friday, July 15, 2016 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.
