About Brenda Campbell Smith, 68, of Roanoke, went on her final journey on April 13, 2012. She was born on May 18, 1943 to the late Walter T. and Oneida H. Campbell. Brenda will be greatly missed by her family and friends who are comforted by knowing that she is no longer suffering and that she is now with her beloved husband David, her son Wally, and others who have gone on before.
Brenda retired from General Electric where she worked for 30 plus years. She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church. Brenda loved traveling, Nascar racing, and being with her friends and family. She loved animals, especially her puppies Sammy, Smokey, Cocoa and Sadie. She was preceded in death by her husband David B. Smith and her son Wally Smallwood. She is survived by her son Chris Smallwood, his wife Tracy, and their daughter Melody of Athens, WV, Her son Jeff Smith, his wife Meredith and their three sons Brent, Ethan and Jarrett of Roanoke, her daughter Missy Smith and her special friend Patsy Parker of Roanoke; her granddaughter Julie Smallwood Carroll, her husband David and their son Damien of Roanoke, her grandson Colton Smallwood of Roanoke; her sister Elaine Van Ness, her husband Gary, their two sons Clay and Jason of Eagle Rock, VA, and daughter April of Buchanan, VA; her special aunt Faye Wheeler of Vinton, VA, her Uncle Buddy Holland of Roanoke, her mother-in-law Lena Smith, her daughter Sandy Jones and her husband Jessie of Rocky Mount, VA, and her sister-in-law Norma Jean Beckner of Callaway, VA.

Services will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, Monday, April 16, 2012 at 12:00 pm noon with the Rev. John Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Flowers are appreciated or memorials to The American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends on at 12 noon, Sunday April 15, 2012, 2-4 and 6-8 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 982-2221, www.oakey's.com
