Richard Linwood Slone, 46, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was a member of Edgemont Christian Church, a United States Army veteran and was a truck driver with S.R. Draper Paving Company.
He was a loving father and friend to his children, Sara and Ken.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marian Hylton Slone Goad.
Survivors include two children, Sara Slone, of Radford, and Ken Slone, of Vinton; his father ,Dolor Slone, of Vinton; three sisters and brother-in-law, Melissa Crouch, of Vinton, Karen Neal, of Roanoke, and Sherry and Epsy Bell, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Janet Slone, of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008, at the Edgemont Christian Church in Christiansburg with the Rev. Christopher Yopp officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct Military Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2008, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. The Slone family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
