Marine Cpl. Britt Todd Stacey, 26, of Vinton, stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C., was killed in a war exercise mission on Friday, May 10, 1996. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Jr. and Michael; grandparents, William and Mattie Stacey, Roanoke, and David R. Williams, Richlands. Surviving are his wife, Angela Meador Stacey, Camp Lejeune, N.C., formerly of Blue Ridge; parents, Lee and Marie Stacey, Vinton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeffry A. and Somona (Smith) Stacey, Vinton, Daniel W. and Michelle Desandis Stacey, Everett, Mass.; nieces, Brittny (very special), Rocky Mount, Areil, Martinsville; nephews, Dustin and Sheldon, Vinton; grandmother, Lillian Williams, Richmond; aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to mention; a dear and very special friend of the family, Mrs. Susan Mitchell and husband Andy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernon and Geraldine Meador, Blue Ridge; brother-in-law, Eddie Meador, Blue Ridge; grandparents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William C. Meador, Blue Ridge, Esther Mae Dickerson, Daleville; great-grandmother-in-law, Luna East, Daleville; special friends, Cpl. Ross Nelms and Cpl. Earl (Mo) Morse. Funeral services will be conducted from the Vinton Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 1996, with the Rev. David Elks and the Rev. Dr. William L. Ross officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
