About	Kathy Ogburn Laughlin, 67, of Troutville, VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2016 at Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem, VA after a brave battle with a heart attack and then lung inflammation. She leaves her husband, Jim Laughlin; and daughter, Katie Laughlin. Kathy graduated from Radford University for her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Virginia Polytechnic and State University for her Masters of Arts degree. She was a professional educator and dedicated her life to teaching students American History and how to apply that knowledge in their life. Over four decades of her career was spent at William Byrd High School teaching and supporting the community. After her retirement from the Roanoke County Public School System, she still continued to share her skills by teaching at Virginia Western Community College. In her free time, especially the summer months, Kathy loved the beach with ocean waves. Kathy will be greatly missed by family, “many” friends, neighbors, and caring students. The family would like to give strong thanks for all the kind support that we received in this time of stress. A gathering to share positive memories will be held from 4-6 PM on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at William Byrd High School.
