Lynn Dallas Swain, of Vinton, went to be with the Lord on February 27, 2013 at the age of 59. He had been at home with hospice care provided by Amedisys. A life-long resident of Vinton, VA, he was born to E.M. "Monty" Swain (deceased) and Elma Moody Swain on July 9, 1953.
He is survived by his mother, Elma Swain, brother Don Swain and wife Weeza (Nashville, TN); niece Anne Swain Miklos, husband Alex and son Jack (Baltimore, MD); nephew Nathan Swain(Nashville, TN); cousins Teresa Browder and husband Lynn (Manassas, VA); Jessica Printz Daugherty and husband Darryl (New Zealand).
A graduate of William Byrd High School and Virginia Western Community College, he had been employed by Ewald-Clark and Rail Yard Hobby Shop in Roanoke. He was a talented photographer, a scale model railroader, and an avid fan of steam railroading.
A member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church for his entire life, he sang in the Sanctuary Choir and was a member of the Faith and Fellowship Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends at Oakey's Vinton Chapel from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm on Friday, March 1, 2013.
A funeral service will be held at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church, 707 Washington Avenue, Vinton, VA at 11am on Saturday March 2, 2013. Pallbearers; Shannon Abell, Don Davis, Bill Jones, Alex Miklos, Jim Molinary, Steve Musselwhite, Jim Reynolds, Cary Salyer, and Nathan Swain.
Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery (Vinton) immediately after the funeral service.
