About | Fredric Galmish III passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 71. He was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, on December 18, 1952, to Frederick Galmish Jr. and Edna Martin Galmish of Charleston, West Virginia. He grew up in Amherst County and later moved to Vinton, Virginia. Fred is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved nephew, Bryan Frederick Holland (Carrie). He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Cecelia Shiflett Galmish; sister, Jennifer Galmish Holland (CM); daughter, Ann Galmish Keith (Jordan); two sons, Tony Brads (Kim) and Jamey Brads (Laura); seven grandchildren, Keegan, Colin, Kara, Chester, Ian, Samantha, Russell; and two great-grandchildren, Claire and Oliver; niece Holly Matthews (Dave); great nieces and nephews Avery, Lucy, Eli, Jackson, Brooks, and Kyler. Fred graduated from William Byrd High School. After graduating Quartermaster School, he served as a supply sergeant in the United States Army Reserves for six years and earned his associate's degree from Virginia Western Community College in 1976. Fred worked at Bluefield Distributing and retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 37 years of service. He also worked with his son, Jamey, at Blue Ridge Rescue Suppliers and retired in 2023. Fred was a member of Bonsack United Methodist Church for 37 years. He loved golf, enjoyed vacationing with his family in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and was an avid Virginia Tech football fan. Visitation will be held at Bonsack United Methodist Church on Tuesday, September 17, from 12 pm to 2 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life in the sanctuary. Attendees are encouraged to wear golf attire. The family would like to thank Roanoke County Fire and Rescue for their care on the morning of September 11, neighbor Susie Broyles, Reverend Robert Lough, Reverend Tim Craft, and the entire BUMC church family for their love and support.
