Kathy Lynn (Poff) Doran, age 62, of Falls Church, VA, passed away on June 17, 2018. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, the Big Guy, Charlie Michael Doran IV; parents Charles I. Poff and Junaita Scott Poff; sisters Judith Poff Rock and Sandra Poff Craven. She is survived by her adored sons, Sean (Speedy) Patrick Doran and "CB" Charles Michael Doran V; beloved siblings; Pattie Bradshaw and husband Marty, Charles I. Poff Jr. and wife Pat, Carolyn Poff Barnhart, Cindy Poff, and Ann Marie Lynott; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kathy was a loving and selfless wife and mother, gracious aunt, beloved cousin, exceptional daughter, and an unrivaled friend. Kathy always put the needs of her family above her own. For 38 years Kathy worked at Arnold & Porter, making lifelong friends including Julie Bell, Janet Rowland, Rene Rickman, Howard Cane, and many others.
She grew up in Vinton, VA, in a home filled with love and siblings, and moved to D.C. in 1976. She graduated from William Byrd High School and Virginia Western Community College. Kathy was an avid reader, crime show enthusiast, and amateur political commentator. Her second home was the coast of North Carolina, where part of her heart still lives. Beyond the grave, Kathy is Charlie and Sean's inspiration, role model, and not a day will pass that she is not missed.
A gathering will be held at National Funeral Home on Saturday, June 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. Burial arrangements are being handled by Arlington National Cemetery, where Kathy will be laid to rest with her loving husband.
