Drafted into the Army October 27, 1965 and discharged 2 years later; 27,000 drafter that month. Army sent me to basic training in Ft. Benning GA then their carpenter school in Ft. Leonard Wood MO and then Vietnam for a year of non-combat service. Finished in Ft. Ord CA. Great life experience.

Tim G. Krueger

National Guard, 25 Years
I was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1974 through the Army ROTC program at the University of Toledo. After completing branch qualification training at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, I became a member of the Ohio Army National Guard and served in various capacities in the 612th Engineer Battalion, 112th Engineer Battalion, 416th Engineer Group and the 16th Engineer Brigade. In 1991, I was activated for Operation Desert Storm, serving at Ft. Benning, Georgia. I was activated again in 1999 for post-Hurricane Mitch national assistance operations, serving in Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. In addition, throughout my career I was activated numerous times for disaster relief operations involving floods, tornados and civil-military assistance. I retired from the National Guard in 1999.

Our Whitmer High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Whitmer High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated. All of us in Toledo are proud of our military alumni and want to thank them for risking their lives to protect our country!
