Hit .461 with 11 home runs, 40 RBI and five stolen bases during his junior season at Westwood High School in Texas in 2001...Selected as a Second-Team High School All-American by Baseball America in 2002 after batting .571 (64x112) with 49 runs scored, 11 doubles, 12 home runs, 45 RBI and six stolen bases as a senior at Westwood High School...Rated as the 33rd-best prospect overall and fourth-best in the state of Texas prior to the draft by Baseball America in 2002...Recommended/signed by Tim Grieve for the Detroit Tigers.
