Dr. Andrew Baker passed peacefully in Jacksonville, Florida after a long illness. He was pre-deceased by his son Remington and his parents Robert and Pauline Baker. He had a long and successful career in Optometry graduating from New England School of Optometry and working both at his own clinic in Danvers Massachusetts and Massachusetts Eye and Ear. He also started one of the first online contact lens companies which he grew internationally and later sold. He was an amazing person striving to overcome the challenges facing him imposed by severe deafness. Being mainstreamed early in his education in Livingston, New Jersey, he learned to speak and only learned sign language when he began scuba diving with his friends. He attended NTID (National Technical Institute for the Deaf) and maintained several close friendships from those years. He leaves a brother Mark (wife Lynne) in Florida and sister Susan (husband Richard) in Georgia, a dear step-mother Dawna DeMarey in Maine and several nieces and nephews. In his later years, he moved to Hyannis Massachusetts where he enjoyed several close friendships.
