Jack was born on July 12, 1954, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the son of Robert Joseph Lyons & Florence Kraft Lyons.

Jack enjoyed gardening and landscaping around his house at Lake Sara. His plants were his pride & joy. He also doted on his faithful dog Molly. One of his fondest moments was carrying the Coast Guard Flag for the National Anthem, in center field at Fenway Park, during the 1975 World series. Following his stint in the Coast Guard, Jack studied and received a degree in accounting from Salem State College in Salem, MA. He put that to use in the financial aid dept. at Lakeland College and subsequently became the financial aid director at Parkland College in Champaign, IL. from which he retired. Jack especially loved that his nephews referred to him as Uncle Cool J. Jack was previously married to Judy Hutton Wilsey, and although their relationship wasn't permanent, they worked together to raise her two daughters from a previous marriage. Jack was a wonderful stepfather to Lacie (Douglas) and Erica Pierce. He cherished how his grandsons carried on his love for hockey, fishing, drums & lake life. He had an amazing memory and always had detailed stories to share about places he had been and everyone he had met. Jack spoke highly of his neighbors at the Lake and appreciated them beyond words.

Jack is survived by his brother Rob, wife Nancy of Callawassie Island, SC; nephew Chris Lyons, wife Sarah and their children Wren & Parker of Portland, OR; nephew Dave Lyons of Portland OR.; stepdaughter Lacie Pierce Douglas, husband Cory Douglas and their children Pierce, Trey and Drake of Mahomet, IL; stepdaughter Erica Pierce and her child Dominic of Champaign, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
