Marvin Lee Townsend

Marvin Lee Townsend, age 78, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by his wife and daughter. Lee was born the son of Lloyd Ivan and Ileen (Lutsock) Townsend on March 17, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio and preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth Townsend.
Anyone who knew Lee knows he was a very caring and giving soul who could always make you laugh. His favorite pastime was helping his neighbors in the community keep their computers operating. He always said it was his way of helping and paying it forward. Lee was a tool and die maker by trade who found his true passion as a high school teacher at East Valley Institute of Technology in Mesa, Arizona. “Mr. T” made such a positive impact on so many of his students' lives over the years and truly loved teaching.
Lee was a 32nd Degree Mason and an Al Koran Shriner. He was Master of Dover Lodge and Patron of the Eastern Star of Cora Griswold in 1976.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, Denise Townsend; daughter Mandy Townsend, son Christopher Townsend, grandson Logan Townsend and his brother Harry Townsend. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family and friends.
