Jerry Douglas Price, Jr.
Class of 1983
Passed Sep 12, 2007
JERRY DOUGLAS PRICE of Missouri City, Texas passed away on September 12th, 2007 surrounded by his family and friends. He was born September 26, 1965 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jerry married Mary Frances Thompson on November 20, 2004 in Marshall, Texas. He worked for the College of Education at the University of Houston for 17 years, starting out as a student and rising to become the Director of Technology Services.
Jerry’s days were not defined by his illness but were filled with the simple daily joys of his wife and daughter, many deep friendships, his work and service to the College, and listening to 70s tunes during long drives. Jerry had an incredible sense of humor even into his final hours; his passing was peaceful and Jerry’s courage and strength made his leaving easier for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife and constant companion, Mary and his beloved daughter of 16 months, Lily. He is also survived by his mother, Brenda Herman, of Orlando, Florida, father, Jerry Price of Fairchild, Texas, brother, Don Price of Orlando, Florida, 6 nieces and nephews, and his in-laws, Jane and Lewis Thompson of Marshall, Texas. His memory is also cherished by his many friends and colleagues from the College of Education.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at Houston First Church of the Nazarene. For those desiring, contributions may be made to an endowed scholarship in Jerry’s name at the College of Education, University of Houston.
