Waukomis Park & Beautification Board New Project
2012 is the year that the Board is raising funds to purchase and erect an information sign for use by the Waukomis Schools, churches, organizations, and the general citizenry. No longer would it be necessary to attach posters to a barrel or an easel in the center of the intersection of Euclid and Main St. The announcement of upcoming events would be displayed prominently on an easily read LED sign in the downtown area. Would you like to see a sign such as this in Waukomis? Would you be willing to assist us with achieving such a goal? Waukomis 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run
The 5K Run & 1 Mile Fun Run will be held during the Waukomis Sooner Celebration on Saturday, August 25, 2012. The 1 Mile Fun Run begins at 7:10 a.m. and the 5K Run begins at 7:30a.m.. This is the one time of the year when Waukomis citizens, friends & alumni join together to celebrate the town's heritage. Pre-registration may be done online through EarlySignup.com or by mail to: Louise Milacek, P.O. Box 372, Waukomis, OK 73773. There will be pre-registration at the Waukomis Park on Euclid St. from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 on Friday, August 24,2012. Registration on the morning of the race will be from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. Main St. in Waukomis. Pre-registration fee is $25.00 for 5K Run. Late registration fee (including the day of race) is $30.00. Chidren under 12 registration fee is $15.00. Fun Run registration fee is $10.00 (no T-shirt) or $15.00 (with T-Shirt). No T-shirts will be available for fun run late registrants. Registration forms will be available at local businesses & Waukomis City Hall.
Waukomis Park Renovation
Our park committee is pleased to report with the generous donations received, several improvements have been accomplished. The pavilion has been built, 6 picnic tables & 2 grills have been installed. A sidewalk winds from Euclid St. to the pavilion with 3 lamp posts situated along the walk. Six trees, 3 rose bushes & some grass seed & sod have been planted. A granite sign, donated by Rus Pellow Monument Works Inc., with all the names of donors who donated $100.00 & more will be installed upon completion & a flag pole donated by our local FFA chapter will be installed soon. Plans are to plant some conifers as a screen around the pavilion on the east & south side of park in the fall. We hope you will have the opportunity to visit & enjoy the park in the upcoming future.

Waukomis 5K Run for Fun
On Saturday, August 21, 2010 our second annual 5K Run/Walk for Fun will be held at 7:30a.m. at the Waukomis Sooner Celebration. The event will start/finish on Main St. and loop through our scenic town of Waukomis. The proceeds will continue to benefit the Waukomis Park Renovations. Pre-registration may be done online through GetMeRegistered.com or by mail to: Louise Milacek, P.O. Box 372, Waukomis, OK 73773. Pre-registration fee is $20.00. Late registration (including day of race) fee is $25.00. Children under 12 registration fee is $10.00. All mailed pre-registration must be post marked no later than Saturday, August 14, 2010. Waukomis Park Renovation
A park committee has been formed in order to restore our local park. The Town of Waukomis along with a grant from Lowe's has provided a new playground. Phase 1 is the park pavilion and tables - estimated to cost approximately $30.000., Phase 2 will be the restrooms and sidewalks and Phase 3 will be for the landscaping and extras that will make the Waukomis Park distinctive and unique.
We are asking for your help to pay for this project. Every donation is appreciated and major donors will be recognized on a plaque attached to the pavilion. Platinum Sponsors $10,000 or more; Gold-$9,999 to $5,000; Silver $4,999 to $1,000; Bronze $999.-$500 and Friends $499 to $100. Your donations should be sent to Waukomis City Hall, P.O. Waukomis Sooner 5K Run/Walk
