Edgewater, FL - Whitney Marie Harris (McRae) died unexpectedly on July 21, 2017 at the age of 52 in her home in Edgewater, Florida. Whitney is survived by her mother, Marilyn Harris, formerly of Setauket, NY, and currently of Craftsbury, VT; her son Travis McRae of Port Jefferson, NY; her significant other Jason Shinall of Edgewater, FL; her sister Gwyneth Harris of Greensboro, VT; her sister Deborah O'Rouke of Rocky Point, NY; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and many great friends. Her beloved father and confidant, David Harris, predeceased her. She was born on Long Island in NY on April 21, 1965. Over the course of her life she lived in many places along the north shore of Long Island, Mars Hill and Asheville, NC, and ultimately Florida. Whitney had a sharp mind. She was well read and enjoyed researching topics directly relevant to her life. Good with numbers, bookkeeping, and computers, she worked at a variety of companies providing accounting services over many years. She always expressed gratitude to friends and family who supported her through illnesses and difficult times. Friends and family are encouraged to create gatherings in celebration of Whitney's life.
