| Favorite School Memory | I wouldn't really say it's my favorite, but it's funny, and it captures the essence of my school persona. My buddy, Tom Bogle and I had new motorcycles. Tom's was cooler than mine but he never let on that he knew. We went out to "drag the gut" down Isaacs/Main St.. No helmet law, hair fairly long (doesn't look so cool in photos years later), sunglasses. We pull into the parking lot of the Arctic Circle Burger Stand. Lots of high school cars parked with hood up, showing off new chromed air cleaners, headers, etc... Anyway, we pull, hoping to be noticed on our rides. We did get a few subtle compliments and that was enough to build up the moment. We went to take off for the next parking lot to stop in, Tom goes into his turn, looking cool, hair blowing, head back, shades on, serious easy rider face, his kick stand still down. The worst grinding noise and some sparks fly, he almost dumps the bike. Now the parking lot is full of chuckles and laughter. I think to myself "What a dork." Then, I go into my turn, Easy Rider style. Like Tom, my kick stand down. We passed by the next crowd and headed for Winchell's for a donut and carton of milk.
