Frederick "Fred" William Reinhold Jr., 65, passed away on January 13, 2015 after fighting esophageal cancer.
Fred was born in Santa Monica, California on June 7, 1949 to Father, Frederick W. Reinhold, Sr. and Mother, Florence V. Reinhold. Fred grew up with his sister Virginia "Ginny" Reinhold, and spent his childhood playing football, surfing the Pacific, and acquiring the palate that would shape his artistic sensibilities.
After graduating from Venice High, Fred served honorably in the U.S. Air Force (1967-1971).
Upon his return from overseas, Fred took art classes at Ventura College where he helped with set design for a local play in early 1974. This endeavor led him to his wife of 40 years, Sharon E. (Farrell) Reinhold. With Ventura as a backdrop, they raised a son, Jarod, and a daughter, Stacy. Fred also served an important role in the lives of many other Ventura youths as a soccer coach.
Fred loved the ocean and the outdoors. Recent trips to Yosemite and El Capitan gave Fred the opportunity to share this love and pass it on to his grandchildren. Fred cherished his grandchildren and rarely missed a game, assembly, or tournament.
Fred was a talented artist and generous man, always giving more than he took. His paintings showcase an undeniable talent and those lucky enough to receive a "Poppa" original will speak to his generosity. Like his paintings that hang in so many of our homes, Fred's memory is a continuing gift to those that knew him.
Fred is survived by his wife, Sharon E. Reinhold, son Frederick Jarod Reinhold, daughter Stacy Dion Hixon, daughter-in-law Tara Reinhold, son-in-law Matthew Hixon, grandchildren Christopher Reinhold, Frederick Adam Reinhold, Scott James Hixon, and Diana Melody Hixon, and sister Virginia "Ginny" Reinhold.
