About It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Lee Jenkins on the morning of June 10, 2026, in Chandler, Arizona. He was 77 years old.
Lee Jeffrey Jenkins was born on August 30, 1948 in Los Angeles to Irving ‘Ernie’ Bernard Jenkins (1920-2014) and Lillian Rich Levin.
Lee attended Playa del Rey Elementary School and was proud to be a charter member of the first class to attend all three years and graduate from Marina del Rey Junior High School.
Lee began his scouting journey as a member of Cub Scout Pack #48 in December 1958. In October 1960, he took the next step by joining Boy Scout Troop #116 as a newly inducted Tenderfoot.
? On Friday, November 3, 1961, Lee marked an important rite of passage when he celebrated his Bar Mitzvah at Temple Akiba, with Rabbi Hershel Lymon leading the service.
In February 1962, while a member of Culver-Palms Boy Scout Troop #116, sponsored by Temple Akiba, Lee received his two-year pin. Making the occasion even more special, his father, Ernie, who served as a troop committee chairman, presented the awards.
In 1964, Lee was a member of the Venice High boys' golf team under the guidance of Coach Costello. He graduated in the summer of 1966 as a member of the Estivalians Class.
???? Lee proudly served in the United States Air Force for seven years, during which he was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base, served in England, and completed two tours in Vietnam.
Before moving to Phoenix, Lee and his wife, Mindy, made their home in Culver City. Lee built his career in Information Technology with Wells Fargo Bank, working in both Los Angeles, California, and Arizona.
? By 1999, they were season ticket holders for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Their habit of leaving games early and enthusiastically booing became part of their game-day routine—and it was through this that they met “the gang” in the last row of Section 135. On Lee’s 51st birthday, he was delightfully surprised with balloons brought by his new friend Maggie Jones and the group.
Lee enjoyed bowling and was a devoted USC fan. Whether cheering from the stands at football games or watching the USC women's basketball team on television, he enthusiastically supported his Trojans.
Lee was known for his wonderfully wicked sense of humor. He also loved gaming and made it a weekly tradition to play with his niece and nephew.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Ernie, and his sister, Laura Jenkins. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Mindy Joy Katz Jenkins; his mother, Lillian; and his sister, Terry Jenkins Skinner (William Skinner), along with his niece, Jennifer Skinner, and nephew, Michael Skinner. He is also remembered by his cousins, ?Barry Steelman, Joanne Lieberman Godfrey, and Georgia Lieberman Alkov, who all attended Venice together for one semester before the oldest began graduating.
His memory will be cherished for his generous spirit, hearty laugh, and the kindness he showed throughout his life.
