FEB 1961, I joined with Tom Brannon, class of 1959, to go to Germany, & little did we know everybody was going to Germany.We did basics with the 2nd Armor Division @ Ft Hood TX; Artillery trng @ Ft Sill OK; & we ended up in Artillery Units in Germany, as planned. Tom was in a line unit near Nuermburg, I ended up in a Hq & Hq Btry, 24th Inf Div Arty in Munich. Arrived on July 11 just before they closed the Wall in Berlin on August 16. Served 31 of my 36 mos.in Germany... Got out in Feb 1964. Finally saw Brannon on the ship coming home across the North Sea, Not a pleasure cruise, I can assure
you.

Larry was an Infantry Officer who served two tours in Vietnam. He was an infantry platoon leader in 1968 and an infantry company commander in 1970. Larry was a Captain with a Bronze Star with V device (for valor) a Purple Heart, an Army Commendation Medal, a Combat Infantryman Badge and several service and campaign medals.
