Torpedoman for 16 years than obtained a commission. Served aboard two Destroyer Tenders and three aircraft carriers. Served as advisor to Imperial Iranian Navy for one year. Also stationed at several locations in the states and abroad. Joined in June 1962 and retired in October 1884.

Stationed aboard ships in Atlantic and Pacific, shore stations in New Zealand, Iceland, Guam, Japan and Antarctica. Wintered over at Byrd Station, Antarctica 9/66 to 10/67. Subsequently had the Suchland Islands named in my honor for my service in Antarctica.
