It's time for our 55th year class reunion! Here's the plan. We will meet at 5:30 pm on Friday, October 6, 2023, at the La Palma Mexican restaurant, 1629 Rt. 29, Urbana. No reservation is necessary. Anything you eat or drink is at your own expense. On Saturday, October 7, at 5:30 pm we will be at The Cheetah Lounge, 211 Glenn Avenue, Urbana, for a casual “party-like” reunion. We are serving a buffet of slider sandwiches, appetizers, chips, cookies and brownies, water, colas and iced tea. You can eat whenever you want throughout the evening. This is a casual reunion so come, relax, and enjoy yourself. We will not have a cash bar since we cannot sell alcohol unless we have a liquor license and hire a bartender. Please feel free to bring your own alcohol.
We hope that this relaxed reunion will be welcoming to all of you. Now that we are older, it is fun to see our old friends and classmates and reminisce days gone by while listening to music from the 60's and munching on snacks. If you haven't been to a reunion in the past, give it a try this time. You will probably be surprised how much fun you will have. Make this the year you reconnect with old friends. We aren't getting any younger!
The cost of the reunion will be $25 per person. You can register and send your payment right away or before the deadline of September 10, 2023. (The sooner the better) Make checks payable to UHS Class of 1968. Mail your check or money order to:

Currently, we are looking for additional attractions in Urbana and Champaign County. The Chamber of Commerce doesn't have a full schedule for this fall yet, and the High School football game is in Bellefontaine on the 6th.
However, there are some new businesses that might be worth checking out. The Urbana Brewing Company just opened in the square (in the Uhlman's building) occupying 2 floors and has a full bar and excellent pizza. Pequenos Tapa Wine Bar is also in the square where the Champaign Inn was and has a Tapa menu, and Miami Street Tavern, just around the corner from the other two businesses also has an excellent food menu. These are all new, and the word on the street is they are all excellent!
If there is anything you would like to see or do while in Urbana, let us know and we will arrange for it. Your ideas are welcomed.

With regret and disappointment, The De Facto Organizing Committee for the UHS Class of ’69 Turns ’69 Birthday Party and 51st Class Reunion has decided to postpone this year’s event. Yup, it’s Yet Another Covid Cancellation—at least for now. Too many of us are too concerned about the potential risks to ourselves (or those near and dear) to risk a Pandemic Pow Wow. It’s just too hard to imagine a socially distanced class reunion anyhow.
So… we’re moving forward with plans to celebrate our collective 70th birthdays (how did that happen?) with a gathering sometime next summer. If you have suggestions, or would like to volunteer in any way, please contact Patty (Torsell) Rodabaugh at psrodabaugh@gmail.com.

This is a casual gathering and no reservation is required. Mother Stewarts is a craft beer brewery and isn't a restaurant, but they always have a food truck outside. I hope you can come. We had fun last year and thought another gathering before our 55th reunion was a good idea. Parking for Mother Stewarts is on Columbia at Center Street. Since this isn't a private event, we will be near the doors to greet you and organize our seating and gathering area. If the weather is nice, they have an outdoor area as well. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone who comes.

Friday, August 3, we are meeting at LaPalma Mexican Restaurant at 1629 E. St. Rt. 29. This is a no reservation event at your own expense. You can order a meal, appetizer or just drinks and have a great time visiting.
Saturday at noon we will be touring the new high school. Robin Boydston will be leading tours of the Airport Museum and Cedar Bog (one in the morning and the other in the afternoon). There are a lot of other things that can be done in the area. A list will be attached to the email going out in April and mailing being sent in May. You can plan your own activities according to your interests.
We want to give a gift to the school to memorialize our class. We will be accepting donations for this project by mail with your reservation, at the reunion, or below with your online ticket order. I have included a few donation amounts. If you can't find one to suit you, please feel free to donate by mail or at the reunion. Any and all amounts will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your generosity and participation in this project. The Superintendent will let us know exactly what they need so we can give a specific item, not just cash.
Saturday night will be casual dress with appetizers, full dinner, cash bar, and music by Bill Diehl and Roger Brooks from our class. The menu will be appetizers (Mumfords chips, Crabill's burgers) chicken breast, beef loin, vegetarian pasta primavera, cheesy potatoes, green beens, salad, rolls and butter, desserts. Come hungry! We have been able to hold the cost to $25 per person thanks to the generous donations of several people. Please take advantage of this great price and join us for the 50th reunion of the class of 1968.

The class of 1962 is having a reunion on Friday and Saturday, July 14th and 15th, 2017. Both evenings will be casual and will be held at Jane and Don Bauer's. They have a newly remodeled party room with air conditioning and plenty of room for everyone. Friday evening we will have pizza, made at their open air pizza oven kitchen, along with heavy appetizers, drinks and dessert. Saturday night will be salad, dinner, dessert and beverages. On Saturday golf is available for $50.00 per person and both classmates and guests can register. A tour of the high school is being arranged. The time will be announced on Friday night at Don and Jane's. This weekend is also the Annual Home and Garden Tour in Urbana. Those tickets can be purchased the day of the tour for $12.00. Other points of interest you may want to take in are the Champaign County Historical Society on East Lawn,and the Champaign Aviation Museum and the Grimes Flying Lab, both located at the Urbana Airport. These things are free of charge. Some new and very nice B&B's have opened in town if you need lodging. They are the Scioto Inn, the Simon Kenton Inn between Urbana and Springfield and the High Street Inn. Information is enclosed in your invitation or email Tom or Susan for additional information.
