Stephen D. “Grumpy” Grauman, 70, of Urbana, passed away on Sunday April 13, 2025, in Springfield Regional Hospital.
Grumpy was born on December 23, 1954, in Ohio to the late Richard D. Grauman and Mae (Forsythe).
He had a special way of finding treasure in the overlooked, whether it was at a thrift store, a hidden gem at a garage sale, or a quiet morning spent feeding the birds. Grumpy had a deep appreciation for the things that never go out of style like classic Westerns, the raw soul of old school rock 'n' roll, and the heartfelt twang of 50s and 60s country and bluegrass.
But more than anything, Grumpy loved the time spent with family and friends. He made people feel welcome and always enjoyed a good laugh.
Grumpy is survived by his son, Richard (Heather Hammond) Grauman; brothers, John Grauman, Jeff Grauman; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Grumpy is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Susan Morgan, Becky Forsythe; and brother, Mike Forsythe.
