Dr. David Hohn
Class of 1960
Dr. David Hohn, Class of 1960, graduated from medical school at University of Illinois with highest honors. David Hohn has made significant contributions in several fields of medicine including basic medical science, oncology, surgery and administration. His clinical discovery in enzyme research has helped children with Chronic Granulamatous Disease. Dr. Hohn also co-authored national guidelines for the treatment of early stage breast cancer under the auspices of the National Cancer Institute. He was an Associate Professor of Surgery along with Director of the Liver Tumor Research program and Director of Surgical Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco from 1978-1987. He was Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center and served as Vice President for patient care until 1997. He is currently serving as President and CEO of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute where he revitalized the design and implementation of a new governance model that has been recognized by the State of New York and the National Cancer Institute as an achievement of major importance to the national cancer community. Dr. Hohn has written over 60 articles for peer-reviewed medical journals, collaborated on 50 abstracts, and contributed to 14 books on medical topics. He serves on many local, state, national and international committees, and is a member of 17 professional societies. His accomplishments have achieved wide recognition, and his work in the development of new models for health care delivery has been emulated by many medical centers in the country.
