Enlisted in 1974. After basic training and technical school was assigned to March AFB in California in March 1975. Summer of 1976 was reassigned to 6912th Security Squadron, Tempelhof Central Airport, Berlin, Germany. Separated in Berlin in 1984. Was in Berlin when the Berlin Wall came down and Germany unified.

First duty station following boot camp was Naval Supply Activity, DaNang, VietNam - a truck driver supporting land operations in the I Corps area of responsibility. Following VietNam my sea duty tours were USS ARCADIA (AD-23), USS WILLARD KEITH (DD-775), USS BAUER (DE-1025), USS CONSERVER (ARS-39), USS INCHON (LPH-12), and USS ALASKA (SSBN 732-Gold). Shore duty assignments included Service School Command, San Diego as an Instructor; Naval Telecommunications Command, Washington, DC; Mark 48 Torpedo Project Office, Washington, DC; Polaris Material Office, Bremerton, Washington, Submarine Squadron 17, Silverdale, Washington and Submarine Force, U S Pacific Fleet Headquarters, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
