Michael Boatman
Class of 1982
My brother,Michael, probably best known for his role as Carter Heyward from Spin City and Arliss, entered TTHS in his sophomore year after transferring from Calumet High School In Chicago where he became a member of the track team. After one year he
decided to join the Theatre dept as he thought it was "a good way to meet girls". He soon fell in love with acting and immersed himself fully in the theatre dept. After he graduated Michael went on to and graduated from WIU where during his senior year he won the Irene Ryan theatre award for Best Supporting actor during the finals competition at the Kennedy Center.
Michael's professional acting career began in 1986 when he garnered a role in a McDonald's commercial. He then went on to play Samuel Beckett in ABC's China Beach for which the cast won a People's Choice award. He would also go on to be nominated for 4 NAACP Imag awards as well as 1 GLAD appearances on Broadway.
Today Michael , who will soon be appearing in the new Lifetime television sitcom "The Sherri Show", starring Sherri Shephard from "The View", currently lives in New York with his wife of 17 yrs and their 4 children
