I spoke with Carol's brother-in-law and learned that Carol had died of lung cancer in 2006, just 1 year after its diagnosis. She was a non-smoker so it was difficult for everyone to understand how this disease could occur. Carol lived in California and leaves a son in California and a daughter in Oklahoma.

As a student at Thornridge, Carol was very active in the Girls Club.
