About Richard J. Mangan, age 75 of Schererville, IN passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2020. Richard was born November 12, 1944 in Chicago to John and Irene Mangan.
He is survived by his wife Julia (nee Genovese) of 49 years; two children Katie (Kevin) Cracco, John (Jane) Mangan; six grandchildren: Michael, Hannah, Vivian, Olivia, Mila and Ricky; three siblings Kathy (George) Laski and family, Kenny (Penny) Mangan and daughters; Ron (Denise) Mangan and family; in laws Greg and Karen Koertgen and family, the late Bill Genovese and family.
Rich proudly served his country in the US Navy on the USS Boyd DD-544 while at sea. He achieved the rank of BT3, along with many awards. While in the Navy, he learned his trade to become a Stationary Engineer. At the end of his service, he received an honorable discharge.

Rich was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather. He loved his family, liked to play card games and especially board games. He loved to watch the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bears. He loved having big family parties and family dinners. He coached his daughter’s softball team and his son’s baseball team. He lived for his family. He had a WONDERFUL life!
While it’s the wishes of the family to have a memorial service, due to COVID-19, a Celebration of Rich’s Life will be held in the near future. Location anddate will be announced.
