Bernard Smitherman
Class of 1963
Air Force, 20+ Years
Retired at Tyndall AFB, FL (Panama City) as a MSgt (E7) in 1987.
AFSC: 276X1 - Radar Inputs Countermeasures Technician (RICMT) under the NORAD Aerospace Defense Command.
Served at a remote AF Radar Site (without family) in 1971-1972 at Okinio Erabu Shima, Japan.
Served at another remote AF Radar Site (without family) in 1973-1974 at Campion AFS, Alaska.
Served at another remote AF Radar Site (without family) in 1976-1977 at King Salmon AFS, Alaska.
Training assignments were in the following States: Basic = Texas _ Technical = Mississippi.
Stateside assignments were in these States: Missouri, Florida, Arizona, North Carolina and Virginia.
I loved my time in the Air Force. I did my job and was also able to participate throughout my entire 21 year career as a player and coach in Flag football, fastpitch and slowpitch softball and basketball. What a great life it was. I have many very happy memories and met lots of great friends along the way.

Our Thomasville High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Thomasville High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated.
