About | Theresa Ann Narmi Erickson, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010, surrounded by family, after an intense three month battle with a rare form of kidney cancer and resulting complications. Theresa was 54 years old. Throughout her entire battle, Theresa maintained three of her dominant traits: good cheer, optimism and determination. She is survived by her husband, Dave; and three children, Angela, Tony, and wife, Becky, and Chip; as well as 6 grandchildren. She is also survived by sister, Sue Stonerook and husband, Darrell, Michelle Frisby and husband, Ken; brothers, Keith and wife, Lorraine, Randy and wife, Shellie, and Jon and wife, Vicki. Locally, she is survived by aunt, Kathryn Shudak and uncle, Jon Narmi and wife, Candy, as well as numerous cousins. Theresa was born June 16, 1955, to Tony and Donella Narmi, third of their six children and youngest daughter. Theresa graduated from Thomas Jefferson high school. She also graduated from Iowa Western Community College with an associate degree in computer science in 1983 and immediately began working at First Data resources in Omaha, Neb., where she rose to the rank of vice president. Later she graduated from Bellevue University with a degree in business management in 1993. Theresa was recruited to go to work for Mastercard in Saint Louis, Mo., after leaving First Data Resources. Theresa was a group leader for Mastercard in Saint Louis and was part of a team that garnered a patent for Mastercard International in 2008. The patent pertains to "method and apparatus for reward calculation and disbursement" quoting: "method includes receiving data that represents purchase transactions received from acquirer financial institutions. The method further includes identifying, from received data, purchases that qualify for customer rebates. The method further includes transmitting rebate data to certain ones of the acquirer financial institutions. The rebate data identifies the purchase transactions that qualify for customer rebates". If you want further detail, Google "Theresa Erickson Mastercard Patent", and you will find seven pages of data outlining the working of the software program that was patented. Theresa overcame many adversities in her life, but always rose above them through her sheer determination and god-given talents. She always aspired to do and be her best. As a result, she served as a role model for her family, relatives and many, many friends. Along with her analytical skills, Theresa was a "people person", loved people, loved to be around people, loved to visit with people and always took the "positive high road". Theresa truly enjoyed spending time with her husband, Dave, her grandchildren as well as her large extended family and friends. Theresa lived a full life, traveling extensively in America and Europe. She had numerous pursuits and hobbies, but her life was simply too short for us. There will be "void" in the world with her passing, but Theresa would be the first to tell us that we need to pick up the pieces of life and move forward in a very positive fashion for a better life! As for Theresa, she has a woman of great Christian faith and is now enjoying her true rewards in heaven with her savior, and family and friends. She will surely be one of the first to greet all of the rest of us when our time comes. Theresa, we are going to miss you, but we are going to remember you and your positive ways for as long as we live. God bless you and look down upon us as we move forward with our lives that you so brightly illuminated. A Memorial Service will be held May 15, 2010, at 10 a.m., in St. Louis, at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church. "May the angels lead you into paradise, may the martyrs receive you and lead you to the holy city of Jerusalem. May the choir of angels receive you, and with Lazarus, once a Pauper, may you have eternal rest". "Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and may the perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed rest in peace, Amen". God bless you, "Tuffy", a true Christian Soldier to the very end! |
