About	Dan C. Applegate, age 56, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away suddenly, August 20, 2009, in Queens, New York. Dan was born March 31, 1953, in Council Bluffs, to the late Charles and Marjorie (Mogensen) Applegate. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1971, where he played on the state qualifying basketball team. Dan married Karen Anderson on September 15, 1973. They were blessed with daughter, Emilee, and son, Eric. Dan was the community service director for Open Door Mission in Omaha for the past 5 years. He was a member of First Christian Church; an avid baseball fan and card collector. Dan was a man of faith and loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Brock Parton and brother, David Applegate. Dan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen Applegate of Council Bluffs; daughter, Emilee (Ken) Parton of Edwardsville, Kan,; son, Eric (Jill) Applegate, of Council Bluffs; granddaughter, Sophia Parton; grandson, Brody Applegate; sister, Marsha (Dennis) Nelson, of Savage, Minn. Visitation with the family, Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service, Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at First Christian Church, 20794 Hwy #92. Pastor David Erickson will officiate. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery with a lunch following at the church. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or Open Door Mission.
