About	Katharine S. "Kathy" Fletcher, age 69, passed away on March 8, 2025, at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital. She was born to Rex and Shirley Straw, in Omaha, Nebraska on May 6, 1955. Kathy was of the Baptist faith and loved to spend her time at the church. She was a homemaker, and for the past 10 years she was working at the daycare at Eastern Hills Child Development Center. Kathy was a lifelong resident of Council Bluffs. She married Robert Fletcher on June 7, 1981. They welcomed two sons over the next few years, who kept her on her toes. She was always there for her boys. Kathy loved to spend time with her grandkids, add to her garden, watch sports, and cheer up whoever she could. Kathy was an avid gardener and planted flowers as long as they were not yellow. She enjoyed watching sports/praying for the right team to win, cooking, attending church whenever the door was open, and greeting everyone possible. Kathy loved roses, the color fuchsia, TV shows where no blood is shown, and everyone has a happy ending, putting everyone else first, the Dallas Cowboys, Nebraska Cornhuskers, San Antonio Spurs, and everyone other local team. Wearing hats as well that would sometimes embarrass her older son. Visiting with all of her long-time close friends as well, threatening to kiss children or even still her sons all over their face if they acted like pills “according to her” and always being there for them. Kathy was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, and father Rex Straw. Kathy is survived by her husband, Robert Fletcher of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 2 sons: Javan (Tiffani) Fletcher of Omaha, Nebraska and Jamin Fletcher of Council Bluffs; 4 grandchildren: Vincent, Damien, Malik, and Eveanah; mother, Shirley Straw of Mondamin, Iowa; brother, Dwayne (Catherine) Straw of Omaha; nephew, James Straw of Omaha; niece, Anna Straw of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; many other relatives and friends. Funeral Service, Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Visitation with the family 30 minutes prior to the service. Inurnment Walnut Hill Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the funeral service at the church. Memorials will be directed by the family.
